Ah. The turkey has settled, the pies have cooled. My belly has grown and the food baby slumbers. And today is usually the day when I work it all off. Black Friday. The infamous shopping extravaganza. Yes, I am a Black Friday shopper. I am not, however, a Black Friday lunatic. In fact, I don’t typically spend all that much when I go, it’s more for the fun of it all. See I started BF shopping about 5 years ago, and it was a way for all the girls in my family to go out and have some fun-away from the chaos of post-Thanksgiving cleanup. There are no kids and no men allowed in this sacred space of girl time.
It starts with an afternoon of newspaper madness spread out on the table while a treasure map and schedule is made. There is no competition. There is only shopping, the sharing of coupons and the commendatory of standing in line for some one while they run isles for you. We down coffee like it is manna from the heavens. We celebrate our victories and share our battle stories over stuffed french toast and waffles. It is a beautiful thing. But this year tradition didn’t stand. It’s 8:10 a.m. the day after Thanksgiving, and I’m still in my p.j.s. There were various circumstances that lead to the full on sleep last night, and that’s okay. But I don’t want to let today pass without ceremony. So, I’m having a little BF special of my own. No Maybe Baby is available through Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and Tate Publishing (check out Tate and Amazon if you want an ebook version). But today I’m running an in-store special. You can purchase through me at a discounted Black Friday price of $8.00! Just click that happy little button and do some shopping! 🙂
