Five Minute Friday: Grateful

It's (almost) Friday! That means it's time to set the timer and write with abandon. Come on over and join the party at Lisa Jo's.

Prompt: Grateful

Go.

We are on the cusp right now. Standing on the edge of the mighty cliffs where the ragged rocks beat the waves and the spray catches up to you and steals your breath. Our toes hang off the edge just a scoche, sending tiny pebbles and the heart of this rock careening down to the water below. We've prayed for guidance and we've been given small answers, tiny glimpses, and it's taken oh so long. But we are grateful.

I am grateful.

Grateful for the job that has pushed me and pulled me and stretched me to grow, without throwing me to the wolves. For women who have been a support and who are sad to see me go. For students who are amazing and brilliant and give me hope for our future.

I am grateful.

For new opportunities and the hope to build the community (in)RL that I have so been missing. Grateful for the chance at a new job and the possibility of more time at home withe my last born and first babe.

 I am grateful.

Grateful for the people that I have met who have spent this rainy season here with us. For the family that waits for us across the mountains and the span of miles. And for the man I've been given to walk along this journey with.

I am grateful, that I can stand on this edge and not be shaken. I can spread my arms wide and feel the wind whip through my hair and the salt flavor my lips. And I can jump, knowing that in my acquiescence to his request, I will be caught.

I am grateful.

Stop.

  1. oh, Marcy, this is so beautiful. I love that I get to see a glimpse of your heart and get to know you just from the words you've weaved together. Such powerful and beautiful imagery; it places me there on the edge, right beside you, feeling the wind and tasting the salt.

May God bless your obedience and your faith.
